Did you wake up from your slumber, In a warm and cozy bed;
And protected from the elements, with roof over your head?
Were you greeted in the morning, by the sun upon your face;
By the nuzzle from your furry friend, or loved one’s warm embrace?
You are blessed, my friend; truly blessed. You are blessed; indeed, you are blessed.
Did you turn the tap on knowing you’d see water flowing through;
Helping quench your thirst and use in all the ways you needed to?
Did you have your choice of foods today, with plenty on your plate;
Was your body fueled and satisfied from all the food you ate?
You are blessed, my friend; truly blessed. You are blessed; indeed, you are blessed.
Did you hear the gift of music or the melody of birds;
Or the rain upon your windowsill or someone’s caring words?
Did your eyes provide the perfect lens, allowing you to see;
To behold the beauty everywhere in God’s great tapestry?
You are blessed, my friend; truly blessed. You are blessed; indeed, you are blessed.
Did your body serve you seamlessly, in ways mundane and fun;
Did it help you cook, or write, or draw, or dance or sing or run?
Did you feel a sense of purpose as you moved throughout your day;
Did your work bring you fulfillment, did you have a chance to play?
You are blessed, my friend; truly blessed. You are blessed; indeed, you are blessed.
Did you find the strength within yourself to navigate your way;
When challenges arose that caused a “less than ideal” day?
Did you have a friend to turn to, when you needed someone there;
Do they always have your back and show you all the ways they care?
You are blessed, my friend; truly blessed. You are blessed; indeed, you are blessed.
Did you heed the call of nature, taking time to soak it in;
Did you feel that sense of wonder that connects us all within?
Did you find the peace within your heart, when worry came to call;
Where tranquility reminds you of the greatest love of all?
You are blessed, my friend; truly blessed. You are blessed; indeed, you are blessed.
I hope today you’ll see all ways that God provides the best;
To help you know that you are loved, and truly, deeply blessed.
